Holocaust Memorial Day

January 27, 2010

Nigel Evans, Member of Parliament for the Ribble Valley, said today that Holocaust Memorial Day still has huge meaning in today’s society. He is pictured signing Book of Commitment to mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2010.

Mr Evans said,

“It is absolutely right that we continue to commemorate those who lost their lives in the Holocaust. Holocaust Memorial Day allows us to do that but it also serves as a stark and terrifying reminder as to why we should always stand up against prejudice, racism and genocide wherever it occurs in the world. Everybody who has signed the Book of Commitment is helping to make a clear statement in rejection of hatred and prejudice of all kinds.

“This is a hugely pertinent day and I hope that people will pause for a moment and realise its significance to our society’s past, present and future.”
